Overview

Water and Sewer Fund The Water & Sewer Fund (WSF) aims to address critical water and sewer needs in Norton Sound communities. The fund makes available $1 million for each member community to be used for upgrades or new construction of water and sewer projects. The program also has an emergency component, allowing communities to access up to $300,000 to address issues that immediately threaten the health of the community or the integrity of the water and sewer system. Water and sewer issues are among the most critical for NSEDC member communities, impacting the health and welfare of residents, as well as the financial stability of municipalities. Approved projects have two years to utilize grant funds. The Water & Sewer Fund was renewed in 2024 and will sunset in 2029. The NSEDC Board may review applications at any quarterly meeting. Emergency requests are reviewed by the Executive Committee with input from the affected community’s representative.

Ineligibility

Entities with delinquent balances through NSEDC’s Consolidated Bulk Fuel Program will be considered ineligible to apply.
