Geographic Scope: Chugiak-Eagle River area, Alaska

Description: The Chugiak-Eagle River Foundation, an affiliate of the Alaska Community Foundation (ACF), primarily supports organizations based in and providing services that benefit the Chugiak-Eagle River area and communities within it.

    Eligibility Requirements

    Alaskan organizations that are:
  • 501(c)(3) public charitable organizations with 509(a)(1), 509(a)(2), or 509(a)(3) Types I & II public charitable status as designated in IRS Determination Letter
  • Schools
  • Federally recognized Tribes
  • City governments or Boroughs
  • Have at least one of the following as their primary purpose: charitable, educational, civic, patriotic, social, literary, cultural, athletic, or scientific

    Not Eligible

  • Individuals
  • State or federal government agencies
  • For-profit organizations or businesses
  • Private foundations
  • In general churches
  • Organizations that, as a major purpose, influence legislation or support candidates for public office or other activities of a political nature
  • Activities that improperly discriminate as to race, gender, marital status, sexual preference, age, disability, creed or ethnicity
  • Grants for religious indoctrination or other religious activities

    What We Fund

  • Capital Projects: Furnishings, buildings, audio and video equipment, books, medical equipment, computers, art supplies, sports equipment, musical instruments, vehicles, etc.
  • Special Projects: Occasionally funds expansion or start-up of innovative programs that address issues of broad community or statewide significance. Projects must demonstrate:
  • - Long-term benefits or impacts - Initiated by established organization(s) with history of accomplishment - Ability to sustain existence over time without annual funding

    What We Don't Fund

  • General operations
  • Loans, deficits, or debt reduction
  • Endowments
  • Indirect or overhead costs
  • Reimbursement for items in completed projects or items already purchased

    Review Process

  • CERF Advisory Board meets quarterly to review proposals
  • All applicants informed of application status within 10 days following board meeting
  • Time-sensitive applications may be considered at any time at the discretion of the Advisory Board
  • If successful, a formal grant agreement will be sent
