Overview

Outside Entity Funding (OEF)

Overview: NSEDC's Outside Entity Funding program provides grants to organizations and entities to improve quality of life and encourage economic development in member communities.

Eligibility:

  • Municipal and tribal governments

  • Local and regional nonprofit organizations

  • Local, state, or federal agencies

  • All must be located in NSEDC member communities
  • Geographic Scope:

  • NSEDC's 15 member communities in the Bering Strait region of Northwestern Alaska

  • Regional projects also eligible
  • Funding Allocation:

  • $60,000 per member community annually (90% of program funds)

  • $100,000 (10% of program funds) for regional scope projects and programs

  • Additional consideration for fisheries-related projects through NSEDC's internal budget process
  • Program Priorities:

  • Community-level projects and programs

  • Regional scope projects and programs

  • Fisheries-related projects (prioritized)
  • Funding History:

  • 2014: Received 36 project proposals, awarded $730,855 to community, regional, and fisheries-related projects
