NHC Residential Fellowships

Overview: The National Humanities Center's core program providing residential fellowships for advanced humanities research. The Center is the world's only independent institute dedicated exclusively to advanced study in all areas of the humanities.

    Program Focus

  • Supports scholars conducting advanced humanities research across all areas of the humanities
  • Scholars pursue individual research projects while participating in the Center's intellectual community
  • Research has covered diverse topics including women in Incan architecture, music's effects on young people, history of misinformation during pandemics, native enslavement in the Caribbean, charismatic leaders in US history, and environmental history

    Eligibility

  • Open to humanities scholars from institutions across the United States and other countries
  • Special initiatives available for HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) faculty
  • Over 1,400 scholars have been supported since the program's inception
