Overview: Annual competitive grant awarded in memory of local artist Mel Shull, who made significant contributions to furthering arts awareness and education in Adams County.

• Awarded in June each year at ACAC's Annual Juried Art Exhibition

Objective

Established in 2020 to remember Mel Shull in perpetuity and foster success for local artists and students of Adams County pursuing arts opportunities.

Eligible Uses of Funds

• Direct project costs:
- Artist's time - Materials - Venue - Marketing of the project's public/educational component
• Direct educational costs:
- Tuition - Materials - Supplies - Books

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants: Must be aspiring or established artists residing in Adams County
• Project Requirements:
- Must include a public component - Must demonstrate focus on arts education - Must use one or more of these disciplines: - Fine Arts - Performing Arts - Literary Arts - Healing Arts - Individual project artists must include a partnering venue in Adams County where the project will be exhibited, performed, taught, or otherwise shared with the community
• Tax Requirements: Artists receiving the award without a partnering 501(c)3 nonprofit organization or school must submit a W-9 and be responsible for any taxes due

Required Submissions

• Written narrative detailing:
- Goals as an artist - The project - Project timeline - Description of art discipline(s) to be explored/used - Educational/public component of the project
• Budget detailing use of funds and any matching funds (matching funds not required)
• Portfolio of artworks previously produced

Timeline

• Projects must be completed/funds expended within one year of grant award
• Final report must be submitted within 30 days of project completion and no later than 12 months and 30 days after issuance of award
