Funder: Maps Community Foundation (philanthropic branch of Maps Credit Union)

Geographic Scope: Marion and Polk Counties, Oregon (Mid-Willamette Valley region)

Award Amount: $500 - $3,500 per scholarship

Total Awards: $27,500 distributed in 2022 to 23 students

Eligibility

• High school seniors from Marion and Polk Counties
• Eligible school districts include: Salem-Keizer, North Santiam, Silver Falls, Gervais, Central, St. Paul, and Regis St. Mary Catholic School
• Designated scholarships for:
- Students of color - First-generation college students (first in family to attend college) - Career and technical education students

Named Scholarships

• Phil Frey Memorial Scholarship: $3,500
• Gordon Sawser Memorial Scholarship: $3,500
• Both honor former Maps board members

Selection Criteria

Awards recognize students who demonstrate:
• Academic achievements
• Perseverance in face of challenge
• Dedication to community service
• Passion for their career paths

Focus

Supports post-secondary education (college, university, technical training). Foundation's mission focuses on three impact areas: Education, Economic Empowerment, and Vibrant Communities.
