Lone Star Land Steward Awards

Status: Active recognition program celebrating 28 years

Recognition and honoring of private landowners for accomplishments in habitat management and wildlife conservation

Program Significance:

With 95% of Texas land under private ownership, landowner conservation efforts are vital

Celebrates the proud legacy, culture, and heritage of stewardship in Texas

Funding supports TPWD's Private Lands Program, which enables strategic habitat conservation on private lands benefiting Texas' lands, waters, and wildlife

Achievement:
Over the past 20 years, nearly 200 landowners across Texas have received this recognition, conserving more than 3 million acres of fish and wildlife habitat
