Program Overview

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program awards 143 scholarships annually across Indiana. The program aims to raise educational attainment in Indiana, increase awareness of community foundations' roles, and encourage scholars to engage with Indiana leaders to improve quality of life in local communities.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be graduating by June 30, 2026, from one of four Hancock County High Schools
• Must live in Hancock County
• Must be in top 15% of cohort (weighted GPA)
• Must plan to pursue four-year baccalaureate degree at accredited Indiana public or private college/university
• Invitations by invitation only - applicants identified by school guidance departments and must receive invitation from CFHC

Selection Criteria

• Primary criterion: Community service
• Not considered: Financial need
• Third-party committee reviews applications blindly and selects eight finalists (two from each Hancock County public high school)
• Volunteer committee interviews finalists and recommends two students to Lilly Endowment for approval
