Justice William E. McAnulty Jr. Trailblazer Award

An annual honor recognizing individuals who have made a lasting impact on racial and ethnic diversity in the legal profession. The award celebrates leaders who drive legal and social progress and is named for the first African American to serve on the Kentucky Supreme Court.

Geographic Scope: Louisville/Kentucky legal community

Award Created: 2003

Criteria - Nominees should reflect the spirit of the Trailblazer Award by meeting several or all of the following qualities:

• Advocates for racial equity and justice through the courts or legislation
• Promotes diversity, inclusion and cultural competency within the profession and the community
• Builds partnerships that strengthen diversity
• Advances diversity, equity and inclusion
• Shows dedication to raising awareness about the value of diversity
• Demonstrates a measurable impact on racial and ethnic diversity in the legal field
• Leads or participates in community outreach that supports the LBA mission on diversity
