Jessie C. James Emphasis on Learning (EOL) Grant Overview

Eligible Applicants: All ACC staff (faculty and staff)

Geographic Scope: Internal to Alpena Community College

Purpose: Equipment, programs, and projects of an instructional nature that directly benefit and involve students

Academic Departments:

• Social Sciences
• English/Humanities/Fine Arts
• Math
• Professional Occupations
• Science
• Industrial Technology

Eligible Project Types:

• Research projects
• Guest speakers
• Collaborative events with two or more area programs or departments
• Workshops/community outreach
• Supplements to field trips with students
• Software to benefit classroom/training experience
• Non-computer equipment
• Computer equipment (only if Technology Committee provides partial funding)

Restrictions:

• Cannot fund projects eligible for General Fund or Perkins Funds resources
• Technology projects must first be submitted to Technology Committee for partial funding
• Collaborative projects among departments encouraged
• Intra-departmental competition likely; departments should prioritize requests

Jessie C. James Emphasis on Learning (EOL) Grant Application Process

Deadline: September – April 30, first-come-first-serve

Complete Application Includes:

1. Signed Emphasis on Learning (EOL) Grant - Specifications
2. Complete Common Grant Application:
   • Cover Sheet
   • Narratives
   • Budget
3. Supplementals - Support literature, biographies, videos/links, etc. to help screening committee understand project

Required Approvals:

• Department Chair approval REQUIRED before applying
• Include email confirmation from Department Chair with application

Guidelines:

• Grant dollars must be used by June 30 (fiscal year-end)
• Check requests for advance payments (guest speaker stipends, travel advances) must be completed at least 10 days in advance of date needed
• Packing slips for equipment/materials must be signed and submitted to Foundation Office immediately upon receipt, no later than deadline for Common Application - Final Report
• Final Report required within 30 days of project completion
