Overview

Innovative Teaching Grant

Overview: The Crosby Education Foundation offers teachers the opportunity to apply for grants to support innovative programs or projects that promote higher levels of student learning.

Geographic Scope: Crosby ISD, Texas

Eligibility:

  • Individuals or teams of individuals employed by Crosby ISD

  • Must be involved in the instruction of students

  • Instructional approaches or projects designed to begin by the semester after the grant is awarded
  • Funding Focus:

  • Instructional and classroom materials

  • Activities or materials that support higher levels of student academic achievement

  • Projects that enhance student academic performance

  • Support for District/Campus Improvement Plan objectives and goals
  • Award Amounts:

  • Up to $1,500 for individual teacher-initiated programs or projects

  • Up to $5,000 for teams of teachers initiating a program or project

  • Number of awards depends on funds available from the Crosby Education Foundation
  • Selection Criteria:

  • Degree to which the grant supports District/School Board Goals, Campus Improvement Plan(s), and/or specific quantifiable student learning needs identified through campus or district data

  • Degree to which student academic performance is emphasized with evidence of direct student benefit

  • Incorporation of sound evaluation procedures with measurable indicators of success

  • Creative or innovative approach to accomplishing objectives

  • Clarity and logic of proposal including clearly stated, attainable, and measurable goals
  • Important Requirements:

  • Do not use the name of your campus in the application

  • Grants must fund projects that cannot be provided in school and district budgets

  • Objectives and outcomes should be consistent with school and district goals

  • Projects must be fully implemented by the end of the following semester

  • Recipients must submit a final report before applying for another grant

  • Recipients should share successful procedures in staff development sessions and send thank you to donors

  • Grant funding stays with the campus (may transfer with recipient to new campus within district, but cannot be taken when leaving district employment)

  • How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Application Form: Complete application forms available in Eduphoria
    2. Submission: All applications must be completed in their entirety and submitted by the deadline selected by the Crosby Education Foundation Board of Directors
    3. Campus Principal Review: Applications reviewed and approved by campus Principal in Eduphoria
    4. Technology Review: For applications including technology requests, the District Technology Lead will review and approve the proposed technology in Eduphoria
    5. Committee Review: Applications reviewed and commented on by the CEF Grant Application Review Committee (comprised of at least four CEF members)
    6. Board Approval: Committee recommendation submitted to Crosby Education Foundation Board of Directors for approval and funding
    7. Notification: Applicants notified of decisions by date specified by committee

  • Describe the area of student achievement to be addressed

  • Include data supporting the need

  • Explain how grant addresses district and campus goals

  • Keep statement simple and straightforward

  • Show relationship to District/Campus Action Plan(s)
  • Objectives:

  • Limit the number of objectives

  • Imply or state evaluation in objective statements

  • Be specific
  • Description of Proposed Project/Activity:

  • Describe the problem or issue addressed

  • Show how project supports the purpose

  • List steps to be followed in project implementation

  • Relate project to need and objectives

  • Be specific

  • Indicate how success will be measured

    • Research carefully and be realistic when creating budget
    • Small grants are just as likely to be awarded as large grants
    • Ensure objectives and outcomes are consistent with school and district goals
