Geographic Scope: Bi-county region of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties (Inland Empire), California

Focus Areas: Organizations working toward accomplishing one or more of five measurable goals:

• Align educational policy initiatives regionally via cradle-to-career collective impact model
• Increase college preparedness, particularly in math, resulting in a 20% reduction in the number of students requiring remediation at matriculation from high school to college within five years
• Increase baccalaureate, associate, certificate, and credential attainment by 15% across the two counties within five years
• Increase the six-year graduation rate by 10% over five years
• Improve career preparedness through strengthened partnership with industry to better align education with workforce development needs

Eligibility: Educational organizations and nonprofits supporting Inland Empire students; organizations must have partnerships to implement activities and a scalability plan

Requirements: 50% matching requirement to promote sustainability and organizational capacity

Funding Structure: $150,000 dispersed in two parts - funding in June of Year 1 and May of Year 2

Background: GIA has distributed nearly $2 million in Innovation Award funding since 2017. Awards are solicited by GIA's regional Action Network Teams to ensure alignment with GIA's goals.

1. Solicitation: Applications are solicited by GIA's regional Action Network Teams

   • Plan to support and facilitate student success in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties
   • Demonstration of work toward at least one of the five measurable goals
   • Partnerships to implement activities
   • Scalability plan to share successes with the region
   • Commitment to 50% matching requirement
3. Selection: Awards are selected based on track record and demonstrated commitment to equity
4. Award Notification: Awardees are informed of approval and funding timeline
