Hunter Charitable Foundation Grant Programs

The K. M. Hunter Charitable Foundation focuses on impactful giving in Ontario, supporting social services, the arts, and environmental protection. Their grants prioritize marginalized communities, including the homeless and LGBTQIA2SS+ individuals, while also addressing international development needs like AIDS relief. The foundation is dedicated to fostering local organizations that make a significant difference, ensuring they are rooted in the community. Notably, they do not fund medical research or international organizations outside specific programs.

Background
Within the cultural section of the foundation, we support organizations that reflect the disciplines of Visual Art, Music, Dance, Literature, Film and Video and Theatre.
Environment
Within the Environmental portfolio, we support three areas: Protection of wildlife species, stewardship of the land, and organizations that fight to change the laws so that environmental areas can be protected. All organizations must be based in Ontario.
International Development and Relief
Within all three portfolios, we are committed to supporting organizations dedicated to helping those who are marginalized, including the homeless, disadvantaged youth, women, aboriginal voices, the LGBTQ community, and preserving and protecting habitat for endangered species in Ontario. We do not support any other Medical research or International organizations with the exception of these two programs.
We are committed to supporting a number of smaller institutions where our grants can have a larger impact and because we are based in Toronto. We only support organizations based in Ontario, Canada with the exception of the AIDS in Africa program.
