Overview

HOCR x Gold Cup Grant Fund

Established: 2020 (partnership between Head Of The Charles Regatta and Philadelphia Gold Cup)

Mission: Provide financial support to rowing programs across the United States that work with under-resourced communities and are committed to broadening access and creating welcoming environments for all participants.

    Focus Areas

  • Support for youth rowing programs (ages 19 and under) in under-resourced communities
  • Programs providing competitive racing teams
  • Programs offering complementary services such as tutoring, mentorship, college guidance, and enrichment
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in rowing
  • Removal of barriers to entry in the sport of rowing

    Geographic Scope

  • United States only (programs based in the US)

    Eligibility Requirements

    Applicant programs must:
  • Provide competitive racing teams for under-resourced youth aged 19 and under
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be committed to USRowing Safe Sport standards
  • Show commitment to expanding access and creating a welcoming environment for all
  • Demonstrate efforts to recruit and sustain a diverse population of student-athletes, staff, and leaders
  • Priority given to programs that also provide programming such as tutoring, mentorship, college guidance, and enrichment

Definitions

Under-resourced communities: Communities that lack resources in leadership, physical assets, financial resources, power, political will, institutions, community cohesion, and services.

    Award Information

  • 2025-26 Season: 4 programs will be awarded $25,000 each
  • Additional Benefits: Grant recipients receive individual check-ins in addition to cohort meetings
