The Grawemeyer Awards are annual prizes presented by the University of Louisville and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary to recognize innovative ideas and works in five categories: music composition, world order, psychology, education, and religion.
History:
Established in 1984 by Charles Grawemeyer, a UofL graduate, former seminary trustee, and philanthropist. The awards were created to recognize the power of creative thought and underscore the impact a single idea can have on the world.
