GEA Scholars Program

Award Amount: $10,000 ($5,000 per semester)

Overview:
A scholarship program developed in partnership between the J.B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville and GE Appliances to support aspiring engineers from underrepresented communities.

Eligibility:

  • Pre-engineering students pursuing studies in STEM

  • Students from underrepresented communities

  • Students whose dreams centered on becoming an engineer but faced barriers due to lack of opportunity
  • What the Scholarship Covers:

  • Tuition assistance: $5,000 per semester

  • Tutoring support

  • Mentoring opportunities

  • Networking opportunities with GE Appliances

  • Career development opportunities
  • Program Focus:

  • Designed to alleviate financial hardship and allow students to focus on academics

  • Strengthens the pipeline of minority engineering professionals

  • Provides additional support beyond financial aid to ensure student success

  • Combats negative conceptions of pre-engineering students

  • Prepares students with skills needed for career success
