Governor's Scholar Program (HB1184)

A Virginia House Bill 1184 mandated program that provides a pathway for high school students to complete an Associate of Science (AS) General Studies degree and Uniform Certificate of General Studies concurrently with their high school diploma.

Program Features:

• Rigorous dual enrollment pathway
• Completed using combination of:
  • Dual enrollment classes offered at high schools
  • AP/IB exam credit
  • Classes offered on VWCC campus

Eligible Degree/Certificate Programs:

• Primary: A.S. General Studies degree and Uniform Certificate of General Studies (best align with high school curriculum)
• Alternative: Specialized program pathways for students with specific career goals

• Craig County Public Schools
• Franklin County Public Schools
• Roanoke City Public Schools
• Roanoke County Public Schools
• Salem City Public Schools
