Our Services CFMV has helped individuals, families, businesses and nonprofits create more than 250 charitable funds to benefit the Mahoning Valley, resulting in more than $60 million awarded to hundreds of local charitable and educational institutions since 2000.Our Origins In 1999, five area trust companies and community partners created The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley as a 501(c)(3) public charity to address charitable and philanthropic needs across Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.Our Mission To serve as a leader and advocate for strategic philanthropy, partnering with donors to anchor a permanent and growing endowment and making investments in the Mahoning Valley that improve the quality of life for all residents. International Institute Funds The IIF funds organizations, within Mahoning and Trumbull counties, that focus on promoting the interests in and understanding of foreign born people.Eligibility

Organizations eligible to receive grants from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley are those determined by the IRS to be public charities. This encompasses most charitable, scientific, social service, educational, and religious organizations described in 501(c)(3) of the tax code, as well as government entities and public schools. Organizations that are not public charities may apply through a fiscal sponsor. Activities proposed by the requesting organization must directly benefit residents of Mahoning or Trumbull counties (or the surrounding area). We like to support a wide range of projects, so as long as your initiative is aimed at making the Mahoning Valley a better place and you meet our other eligibility criteria, your project is up for considerations. Beyond just funding individual projects, the Community Foundation also offers operational grants that you can use however you need to help achieve your missionIneligibility
