Foundation Scholarship Fund

Mission: The Life Enrichment Center Scholarship Fund was established in October 2020 to invest in high school and college students who have excelled academically, exhibit Christian character including humility, high integrity, and servanthood, and are committed to using their gifts, talents, and education to impact the world for good.

    Eligibility

  • High school seniors with plans to attend postsecondary college or university upon graduation
  • Students currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited college or university
  • Minimum high school GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Maintain 3.5 or above GPA each college semester
  • Hampton Roads resident
  • Economically disadvantaged; can demonstrate financial need
  • Students may reapply each year during their 4-year degree pursuit if criteria are met

    Award Details

  • Minimum Award: $5,000 to qualified graduating seniors and/or college-enrolled students
  • Renewable annually for students maintaining eligibility during 4-year degree pursuit

The Life Enrichment Center (LEC) is a non-profit organization providing literacy tutoring and other life-giving initiatives for elementary students from Title I Schools across Virginia.

How to Apply

Application Process

Submission Deadline: September 30, 2026

Required Materials

1. Complete scholarship intake form

2. Academic Requirements Documentation
- Proof of high school GPA of 3.5 or above (for high school applicants)
- Proof of college GPA of 3.5 or above each semester (for college students)

3. Two Letters of Recommendation
- From adults such as pastor, teacher, school administrator, coach, supervisor, or spiritual leader
- Must speak directly to the scholar's character, work ethic, leadership abilities, spiritual background, and vision for the future

4. Essay (1,000 words)
- One paragraph on the greatest challenge faced in high school/college
- One paragraph on how the scholar overcame the challenge to achieve academic success
- One paragraph on what the scholar learned about themselves while overcoming this challenge and how they will use this learning to overcome future challenges
- One paragraph on future aspirations
- One paragraph highlighting personal thoughts about Christian ethics/character

5. Interview
- In-person or via Zoom
