Fall and Spring Grants

Award Amount: Up to $3,000

Recurrence: Awarded twice yearly in November (Fall) and May (Spring)

Geographic Scope: Capitol Hill neighborhood, Washington, DC

Focus Areas:

  • Schools and Teachers: Educational enrichment activities and supplies

  • Youth Programming: Out-of-classroom activities for K-12 students

  • Arts and Culture: Music, theater, and visual arts programs

  • Social Services: Support for health care, housing, legal issues, and well-being

  • Community Spaces: Enhancements for vibrant public places
  • Eligibility:

  • Nonprofits, schools, and neighborhood groups

  • Must benefit Capitol Hill community residents

  • Recipients of prior season's Spring Grants must complete and submit a grant self-evaluation to be eligible for Fall Grant

  • Self-evaluations are due the week prior to each new grant deadline
  • Application Process:

  • Applicants must identify which of the Foundation's core areas is addressed in their proposal

    How to Apply for Fall/Spring Grants

    1. Visit the online application portal at https://webportalapp.com/sp/home/chcf_seasonal
    2. Complete the grant application form
    3. Identify which core area(s) your proposal addresses:
    - Schools and Teachers
    - Youth Programming
    - Arts and Culture
    - Social Services
    - Community Spaces
    4. Provide details about your program or project
    5. Submit by the deadline (last Monday of September for Fall; last Monday of March for Spring)

    Self-Evaluation Requirement:

  • If you received a Spring Grant in the prior season, you must complete and submit a self-evaluation

  • Self-evaluations are due the week prior to each new grant deadline
