Background: Essentia Health has a more than 20-year history of investing in communities across its service area. In FY23, Essentia Health contributed more than $1.7 million dollars to 140 non-profit organizations in the communities served.

Funding Priorities

Essentia Health prioritizes contributions to non-profit organizations working to address social determinants of health in four key priority areas:

1. Economic Stability (Housing, Workforce, Childcare, Healthy Food)
- Example projects: Affordable housing development, subsidized employment services, childcare support, access to fresh healthy foods at farmers markets

2. Access to Education and Healthy Youth Development (Reduction of adverse childhood experiences and asset building for youth)
- Example projects: Youth centers, technology hubs, youth mentorship programming, after-school educational support and summer camps

3. Access to Right Time, Right Place Healthcare (Increase access to comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services)
- Example projects: Free youth dental services, health and wellness centers

4. Neighborhood Improvements that Promote Health and Safety (Neighborhood and environmental changes)
- Example projects: Park rehabilitation projects

Eligibility

• Non-profit organizations only
• Must be working in communities served by Essentia Health (Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin)
• Must address social determinants of health in one of the four priority areas

Application Process

Requests for funding are reviewed on a rolling basis. Allow at least 90 days for a response.
