Background: Essentia Health has a more than 20-year history of investing in communities across its service area. In FY23, Essentia Health contributed more than $1.7 million dollars to 140 non-profit organizations.

Priority Areas

Essentia Health prioritizes contributions to non-profit organizations working to address social determinants of health in four key priority areas:

• Economic Stability (Housing, Workforce, Childcare, Healthy Food)
• Access to Education and Healthy Youth Development (Reduction of adverse childhood experiences (ACES) and asset building for youth)
• Access to Right Time, Right Place Healthcare (Increase access to comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services)
• Neighborhood Improvements that Promote Health and Safety (neighborhood and environmental changes)

• Brewery Creek – a 52-unit affordable housing apartment complex in partnership with One Roof Community Housing
• SOAR Career Solutions' Subsidized Employment Services
• Child-care efforts in Fosston with Prairie Pines Childcare Center
• Access to fresh, healthy foods at farmers markets in Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, Duluth & Grand Rapids
• CornerStone Community and Youth Center in Frazee
• Technology Hub for students in Deer River
• Youth mentorship programming with Mentor North
• After School educational support and summer camps for New American Youth in Fargo with South Sudanese Foundation
• Free youth dental services with Just Kids Dental
• Chum's Health and Wellness Center
• City of Ashland East End Park Rehabilitation Project
