Overview

Essentia Health has a more than 20-year history of investing in communities across its service area. The organization supports projects and programs that improve health in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. In FY23, Essentia Health contributed more than $1.7 million dollars to 140 non-profit organizations in the communities served.

Priority Focus Areas

Essentia Health prioritizes contributions to non-profit organizations working to address social determinants of health in four key priority areas:

1. Economic Stability (Housing, Workforce, Childcare, Healthy Food)
- Example projects: Affordable housing complexes, subsidized employment services, childcare support, farmers market access

2. Access to Education and Healthy Youth Development (Reduction of adverse childhood experiences and asset building for youth)
- Example projects: Youth centers, technology hubs, youth mentorship programs, after-school educational support

3. Access to Right Time, Right Place Healthcare (Increase access to comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services)
- Example projects: Free youth dental services, health and wellness centers

4. Neighborhood Improvements that Promote Health and Safety (Neighborhood and environmental changes)
- Example projects: Park rehabilitation projects

Geographic Scope

Eligible geographic area: Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin

Application Process

Requests for funding are reviewed on a rolling basis. Given the large volume of applications, allow at least 90 days for a response.
