Overview: Essentia Health has a more than 20-year history of investing in communities across their service area. They support projects and programs that improve health in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Geographic Scope: Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin

Funding Amount: In FY23, Essentia Health contributed more than $1.7 million dollars to 140 non-profit organizations in the communities they serve.

Priority Focus Areas

Essentia prioritizes contributions to non-profit organizations working to address social determinants of health in four key priority areas:

• Economic Stability (Housing, Workforce, Childcare, Healthy Food)
- Examples: Affordable housing projects, subsidized employment services, childcare initiatives, access to fresh healthy foods

• Access to Education and Healthy Youth Development
- Focuses on reduction of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and asset building for youth - Examples: Community and youth centers, technology hubs, youth mentorship programs, educational support and summer camps

• Access to Right Time, Right Place Healthcare
- Increase access to comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services - Examples: Free youth dental services, health and wellness centers

• Neighborhood Improvements that Promote Health and Safety
- Neighborhood and environmental changes - Examples: Park rehabilitation projects

Eligibility

• Non-profit organizations
• Working on projects/programs that improve health
• Serving communities in Minnesota, North Dakota, or Wisconsin

Application Process

• Requests for funding are reviewed on a rolling basis
• Allow at least 90 days for a response
