EmpowerEd Grant

Enabling Statute: HB 24-1403

Type: State-funded program administered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education

Purpose: Provides higher education funding and support to eligible individuals who experienced homelessness while enrolled in a Colorado high school

Geographic Scope: Colorado public institutions of higher education

    Coverage

  • Covers the remaining balance of the total cost of attendance after any private, state or federal financial aid
  • Costs are split 50/50 by the institution and state

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Past or current experience of homelessness
  • Must be accepted and enrolled at an accredited Colorado public institution of higher education
  • Must complete the EmpowerEd Application

Application Process

1. Complete the FAFSA or CASFA
2. Indicate past or current experience of homelessness on the application
3. Be accepted and enrolled at an accredited Colorado public institution of higher education
4. Complete the EmpowerEd Application
