Dorothy L. Riekes Music & Cultural Arts Scholarship

The Jewish Federation of Omaha's Dorothy L. Riekes Music & Cultural Arts Scholarship helps Jewish students in the Omaha metropolitan area take part in music and cultural arts programs, including vocal or instrumental music, dance and visual art.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need and are available only to Jewish residents of the Omaha metropolitan area. Financial need within the family is the primary consideration in making awards.

Apply online through the scholarship's application form on the Jewish Federation of Omaha website. Applications must be submitted at least two weeks before the program's event or registration date.

A parent or guardian completes the application, which asks for:

• Student and family details, including synagogue affiliation
• The program type (vocal or instrumental music, dance, art or other), the program or instructor, and the total program cost
• The student's experience, performances and arts goals
• A detailed explanation of the family's financial circumstances, any other financial assistance for the program, and the amount requested
• A copy of the most recent federal tax return (Form 1040)
• A signed parent or guardian agreement
