Crestwood Women & Families Fund

Organization: Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville in partnership with Crestwood Medical Center

Mission: Establish a grant-making fund for high-impact grants to address the issues and meet immediate needs of women and families in our community.

Geographic Scope: Huntsville and Madison County, Alabama

Focus Areas:

• Programs serving women and families
• Healthcare and wellness for women
• Family support services
• Emergency assistance
• Child welfare and development
• Senior services

Eligibility:

• Not-for-profit organizations
• Must serve women and/or families in the community
• Located in the Huntsville/Madison County area

Funding History:

• Initial campaign raised approximately $20,000 from over 100 donors
• Multiple annual grant distributions documented
• Past recipients include: Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Alabama, CASA (Care Assurance System for the Aging and Homebound), Hospice of Marshall County, Huntsville Assistance Program (HAP), Inside Out Ministries, Kid One Transport System, Kids to Love Foundation, New Hope Children's Clinic, Boys & Girls Club of North Alabama, Community Free Dental Clinic, The Care Center

Management: Managed by the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville; represents the first "giving circle" managed by the Foundation

Application Process

Timeline:

• Applications accepted during specific periods (e.g., through September 22, 2016; through October 6, 2017)
• Check with foundation for current application deadline

Submission Requirements:

• Complete grant application form
• Submitted online or via email

Review Process:

• Advisory Committee consisting of members of the Crestwood Women's Advisory Council, Crestwood Medical Center employees, and volunteers reviews applications
• Committee meets regularly to review applications and recommend grants
• Committee-recommended organizations receive funding

• Organizations can contribute to the fund to replenish grants available
• Checks should be made out to the Community Foundation with "Crestwood Women & Families Fund" noted in memo
