Cox Charities Grant Program

Overview: Annual grant program administered by Cox Communications in partnership with Nevada Community Foundation. Provides funding for nonprofit organizations supporting Cox Charities' philanthropic priorities.

Background: Cox Communications partners with Nevada Community Foundation as fiscal partner to distribute grants to qualified nonprofits serving prioritized communities.

Geographic Scope:

Clark County, Nevada

Las Vegas

North Las Vegas

Henderson

Boulder City

Funding Cycle: Annual (typically May opening, late May deadline)

Focus Areas:

Education (with priority on K-12 and STEAM)

Diversity (with priority on programs serving 80% or more of a target population or serving an inclusion, diversity and equity initiative)

Environment/Sustainability (with priority on water conservation, waste reduction, or carbon reduction)

Digital Equity (with priority on digital literacy programs, computer distribution, and programs serving the under/unserved)

Award Amount: Typically $1,000 to $5,000 per grant

Proposals for $5,000 or less are preferred

Multiple grants may NOT be awarded to a single organization

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization OR government agency OR tribal entity

Must operate with fiscal accountability and responsibility

Religious organizations may apply for funding of nonsectarian programs

Must demonstrate non-discrimination policy regarding staff, employment, board, and service delivery based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, or national origin

Must provide evidence of non-discrimination policy

Must serve within Cox Las Vegas Service Areas

Must be in good standing with the IRS at time of review

Organizations without 501(c)(3) status must use a 501(c)(3) fiscal agent

What They Fund:

Program-related expenses only

Activities, materials, and supplies directly related to service provision

Local Southern Nevada needs only

What They Do NOT Fund:

General operations

Staff salaries or wages

Program administrative costs or general supplies for individual public, private, or charter schools

General or capital campaigns

Healthcare/therapy services

Basic needs programs

Socialization/recreation programs

Funding Decisions: Committee comprised of Cox employees who contribute to Cox Charities

Timeline:

Grant cycle opens: May 1, 2024 at 9:00 AM

Application deadline: May 24, 2024 at 5:00 PM

Awards announced: Fall 2024

Next cycle (2025): May 2025 opening, late May deadline (estimated)
