About
Since 1988, we’ve been all about Flint and Genesee County’s future.
As a 501(c)3 tax-exempt public charity created by and for the people of Genesee County, the Community Foundation of Greater Flint enables people with philanthropic interests to easily and effectively support the issues they care about – immediately or through their estate plan.
Established in 1988 through the merger of The Flint Public Trust, founded in 1950, and the Flint Area Health Foundation, created in 1978, the resulting Community Foundation combined the strengths of these two Flint institutions.
Community Impact Fund
The Community Foundation’s grantmaking priorities give focus to its mission of serving the common good. CFGF informs its grantmaking process by being steeped in community knowledge, relying on the contributions of foundation staff and trustees, and a broad and diverse group of community volunteers. Each year, the foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations from its discretionary funds through a competitive grantmaking process. Grants may come from a variety of funds held at the Community Foundation.
Each year the Community Foundation awards grants for charitable purposes through a competitive grantmaking process. Applications for competitive grants must align with the strategic priorities of the CFGF Board of Trustees.
Community Impact funds Supports programs which provide access to resources for marginalized populations; bring people together separated by barriers; and help to build a sense of community.
