Geographic Scope: Heart of Indiana region

Focus Areas:
Part of a nationwide movement to help children from birth through 3rd grade, especially those from asset-limited families, succeed in life by focusing on grade-level reading by the end of third grade.

Program Focus

• School readiness and developmental benchmarks
• School attendance and reducing chronic absenteeism
• Summer learning to maintain/increase reading levels
• Grade level reading achievement by end of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade
• Family support and engagement

Key Components

The program addresses factors including:
• Children meeting developmental benchmarks and being ready for kindergarten
• Children attending school persistently
• Children retaining and continuing learning over summer
• Children being healthy
• Parents and caregivers being supported in their role as first teacher, tutor, advocate, and coach

Service Delivery Model

Partners provide integrated, bundled services across multiple program areas. Integration is built into program design, staff communication plans, data collection, and service delivery.

Requirements

• Accessibility: Partners must have accessible hours (evenings or Saturdays) to accommodate working families
• Flexibility: Applicants must expect and be open to changing current client flow and service models both at entry and over time based on outcome data
