BRIMM 101 Scholarship - University of British Columbia

Funder: Women In Mining USA in partnership with Bradshaw Research Initiative for Minerals and Mining (BRIMM) at The University of British Columbia (UBC)

Overview:
Unique scholarship opportunity for the introduction class BRIMM 101 in the Executive Microcertificate in Economic Leadership for Mining program at UBC.

Course Details:

  • Course Name: BRIMM 101 – Introduction to Mineral and Exploration Economics

  • Format: Five 90-minute sessions (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

  • Duration: April 6 – April 20, 2021

  • Time: 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm PST

  • Delivery: Live online learning platform

  • Certificate: Completion provides certificate that applies towards the UBC Microcertificate Program (1 of 7 required courses)
  • Course Content:
    Foundation course covering four core themes:

  • Sustainability

  • Exploration

  • Mineral processing

  • Finance
  • Geographic Scope: International (diverse student population from over 40 countries)

    Eligibility:

  • Active Members of WIM Professional Chapters
  • Number of Scholarships: 30 scholarships available

    Benefits to Scholarship Recipients:

  • Full course tuition covered

  • Certificate of Completion for BRIMM 101

  • Discussion Group/Mentoring facilitated by WIM USA member

  • Recognition by WIM USA upon completion

  • Invitation to participate in WIM USA round table discussion (summer 2021)

  • UBC Microcertificate Program Details:

  • Can be completed within 6-18 months

  • 13-course program with mix-and-match 7 courses for specialization

  • Various mining industry backgrounds represented

    - Email with applicant information
    - Two written statements (2-3 sentences each):
    - Statement 1: Describe/explain your ability and willingness to influence one's network toward positive change
    - Statement 2: Describe/explain your vision for yourself and the industry

    3. Deadline: Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 8:00 pm MST
