Background My mother, Dr. Adele L, Boskey, established this foundation in honor of my father James B. Boskey in 2000, after his death in 1998. My father had an impact on so many important aspects of law and medicine during his life. His work on New Jersey adoption practices, children’s rights, comparative law, alternative dispute resolution, legal education, and the legal aspects of scientific misconduct represent just a few of his contributions. My mother, in turn, had a profound impact on providing access to women in STEM. She was an orthopedic researcher, the first non MD chair of the Orthopedic Research Society, and a mentor to so many. When she passed away in 2017, I took over as the president of the foundation and have endeavored to continue supporting its goals. The foundation was given 501(c) (3) tax-exempt status in April 2002, and supports research , education, and advocacy in areas which were of special interest to my parents and my beloved aunt, Jill Ann Boskey. These include: children’s rights, disability rights, LGBTQIA rights, protection of family, alternative dispute resolution, access to legal and STEM education, medical and legal ethics, regulation of scientific misconduct, orthopedic research, and reproductive health research Focus Areas Our goal is to improve access to education and other opportunities, predominantly focused on individuals who have been systematically disadvantaged. We welcome proposals centered on thriving, surviving, or growth, with particular emphasis on the following areas: Mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution Women and minorities in STEM Women and minorities in the lawLGBTQIA+ populations Abortion, contraception, & reproductive justice Abolition Food & housing justice Diabetes prevention and research Disability servicesEligibility
