BEF Great Idea Grants

The Birmingham Education Foundation's 'Great Idea Grants' are general-purpose grants funding innovative teacher projects for Birmingham Public Schools (Beverly Hills, MICHIGAN — not Alabama) in one of six areas: arts, academics, athletics, technology, character education, or mental health, for initiatives outside the regular school/district budget. Eligibility: BPS teachers; applications must be approved by an administrator; grant seekers must first have asked their Principal, PTA and Department Chair for funding. Amount: any amount (2021-22 range $300–$3,000, average $1,570; eligible for full funding two years, 50% a third year). Timing: applications considered monthly September–January and March–April; technology grants due by March 1. Funds cannot pay salaries, transportation, consumables, or professional development.
