ASTR Theater and Performance Art Studies Research Fellowships Grant

The ASTR Theater and Performance Art Studies Research Fellowships provide funding for scholars conducting significant research in theatre and performance studies. With awards up to $3000, these fellowships support academic projects, allowing recipients to cover various research expenses. Eligible applicants include anyone holding a terminal degree and a member of ASTR, with the selection based on project merit. However, applicants cannot seek a Targeted Research Area Grant for the same project in the same year.

Purpose
The purpose of the ASTR Research Fellowships is to underwrite some of the research expenses of scholars undertaking projects significant to the field of theatre and/or performance studies. The fellowships can be used in conjunction with funding from other sources.
Evaluation
Committee members will consider the merit of the project within the field of theatre/performance studies and of the individual scholar’s academic research endeavors.
Award
The total award of up to $3000 may be divided among multiple winners.

Eligibility

Anyone holding a terminal degree and who is a member of ASTR is eligible to apply. Rank and institutional affiliation are not considered.
You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member. Applicants must have had an ASTR membership for at least 3 of the last 5 years.

Ineligibility

Applicants may not apply for a Targeted Research Area Grant and for a Research Fellowship for the same project in the same year.
