Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest

Organization: Sons of the American Revolution Foundation

Geographic Scope: United States (competition begins at local chapter level)

Eligibility:

  • Students in grades 3, 4, or 5 (depending on when the American Revolution is taught in their school system)

  • Public, private, parochial, charter, and home-schooled students

  • Members of the Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.)

  • Scouts in the same grade if their school does not participate

    • Focus Areas:

  • Permanent themes: "Revolutionary War Events" in school years ending in an even number and "Revolutionary War Persons" in school years ending in an odd number

    • Judging Criteria:

  • Portrayal of the theme

  • Originality

  • Evidence of research

  • Neatness

  • Artistic merit

  • Creativity

    • Awards:

  • National winners receive: ribbon, certificate, and cash award

  • State and chapter level prizes vary

  • Winning posters displayed at National SAR Headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky
