Overview

ACP Scholarship Program

Status: Ongoing scholarship program

Overview: The ACP Scholarship Program provides funding and mentorship to develop advanced arrangers in barbershop music. The program supports qualified individuals with known arranging skills to develop their potential for creating barbershop-style music for member use in contests and performances.

Award Details:

  • Award Amount: $1,500 USD per recipient

  • Additional Support: Up to 2 years of one-on-one training with a Master Music Arranger (MMA) or Certified Music Arranger (CMA)

  • Number of Awards: Maximum of five individuals per year

    • Eligibility:

  • Sweet Adelines International members

  • Individuals with known arranging skills

  • Must demonstrate commitment to advancing to Certified level by end of second year

  • Willing to commit to intensive study

    • Mentorship:

  • Each recipient paired with a Sweet Adelines International Master Music Arranger (MMA) or Certified Music Arranger (CMA)

  • Mutual agreement between candidate and mentor

  • Training year begins May 1

    • Selection Process:

  • Applicants recommended by Education Coordinators and Master or Certified Arrangers

  • Self-nominations also accepted

  • Selection based on commitment and arranging potential

    • Requirements:

  • Expected advancement to Certified level by end of second year

  • Candidates responsible for expenses exceeding $1,500 stipend

    • Geographic Scope: Sweet Adelines International (primarily US-based)

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Complete an ACP Scholarship Application
    2. Submit three of the applicant's best arrangements for consideration
    3. Application may be submitted with or without a recommendation from an Education Coordinator or Master/Certified Arranger
    4. Upon selection, a mentor is assigned based on mutual agreement
    5. Training year begins May 1
