Mission
The Racial Equity Fund of the Athens County Foundation is a vehicle for supporting anti–racism and racial equity in Athens County. The Racial Equity Fund supports anti–racist educational projects and community programs, as well as builds capacity and opportunities for People of the Global Majority\* in Athens County.
Vision
A sustainable, vibrant Athens County where all residents, including those of the Global Majority, can live safely and comfortably, work successfully, and thrive.
Purpose
Build a community that attracts, welcomes, and supports people of the Global Majority while rooting out white supremacy;
* Support learning and education to build knowledge, skills, and inform attitudes about racial equity;
* Nurture community leadership so there is the capacity to leverage assets, identify gaps, and tackle challenges;
* Partner with entrepreneurs, employees, and business owners who are creating and sustaining a robust and diverse small business community that serves community needs and builds wealth;
* Provide resources to those advancing racial equity through grantmaking, convening, and relationship–building; and
* Build a funding source to promote sustainability and lasting change.
Advisory Board
The Racial Equity Fund is governed by a group of volunteer community members who are committed to an antiracist and equitable Athens County. The Board maintains a composition of at least 50% diversity, where voices of people from the Global Majority are centered and amplified.

* To be eligible for grant funding, organizations must hold tax-exempt status under IRS Code Section 501(c)(3), operate as a local government agency, or function as a church.
Ineligibility
* Grants will not be considered for the following purposes:
* endowments
* scholarships
* religious purposes
* annual fundraising drives
* political or legislative action groups
* Entities and requests ineligible to apply for funding include:
* Individuals
* For-profit organizations
* Organizations outside the U.S.
* Political parties, campaigns or political candidates
* Churches, religious groups or sectarian organizations that only serve congregation members
* Deficits or debt reduction
* Reimbursement for services or projects already completed
* Organizations that discriminate against persons for reason of race, religion, disability, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation/identity, national origin or political orientation
