2026 LTAA Scholarship Program

Overview: The Lane Tech Alumni Association Scholarship Program, established in 1985, awards scholarships to Lane Tech seniors. The 2026 program is offering thirty-five scholarships valued at more than $300,000. Over 40 years, the program has awarded $3.4 million to students.

    Geographic Scope

  • Eligibility: Spring 2026 graduates of Lane Tech High School (Chicago, IL)

    Purpose & Focus

    The program is dedicated to assisting high-potential students of Lane Tech to:
  • Get to and through high school successfully
  • Attend their best-fit colleges and universities
  • Minimize student debt

    Key Features

  • Students may apply for up to five (5) scholarships if they meet eligibility criteria
  • Each scholarship has unique criteria and requirements
  • Individual scholarships include: Ash, Aves, Barnickol, Blassick Memorial Tech, Coogan (English Excellence), Deelightful Expressions (Media-Film), Gunderson Family (First Generation to DePaul), Gunderson Family (First Generation Renewable), Gurolnick (Chemistry), Kabot (Art), Kolb (STEM for Women), Kubik Memorial (Business), Anthony Y.K.   • Must be a Spring 2026 graduate of Lane Tech
  • Must be able to self-advocate
  • Parental overreach may render application ineligible
  • Requirements vary by individual scholarship

Application Process

#### Before Applying
1. Confirm eligibility: Must be a Spring 2026 graduate of Lane Tech
2. Review criteria carefully: Each scholarship has different requirements
3. Use personal email: Do NOT use CPS email address (will expire after graduation)
4. Use desktop/tablet: Application works best on laptops and tablets, not phones
5. Self-advocacy: Student must complete application; parental interference may jeopardize eligibility

2. Select which scholarship you are applying for from dropdown menu
3. Complete all required sections (see below)
4. Upload required documents in PDF format
5. Write personal essay responding to specific scholarship prompt
6. Review submission before final submission
7. Agree to attestation confirming accuracy and originality of work
8. Submit application

  • Complete 4-year transcript (PDF format, required)

  • Teacher/Faculty Letter of Recommendation (PDF format, required only if specified for specific scholarship)

  • - Letter should be from Lane Tech teacher/faculty who taught student in last 4 years
    - College letter of recommendation acceptable
    - Can be uploaded or emailed directly to GoLaneGo@LaneTechAlumni.org with student's full name in subject line
  • Resume (optional, PDF format)
  • Financial Information

  • FAFSA completion status (yes/no)

  • 529 Plan or education savings information (yes/no)

  • Financial Need Statement (required, specific narrative about family financial history and how scholarship would assist)

  • Student fee waivers received at Lane (yes/no; if yes, describe)

  • Financial Award List (required, specific list of other scholarships/financial aid with amounts)

  • Total estimated cost for up to 3 colleges (tuition, room & board, fees)

  • Financial Aid Offer Letters (PDF format for each college)
  • Skills & Abilities

  • Extracurricular Activity List (required, including clubs, hobbies, community service, leadership positions, awards)

  • Language proficiency/languages spoken

  • Work experience description
  • Essay & Supporting Materials

  • Personal Student Essay (required, prompt varies by scholarship)

  • - Essay prompt specific to each scholarship—student must read scholarship description carefully
    - Must be student's own work
  • Special Documents/Samples of Work (optional, up to 3 attachments)

  • - Art samples, writing samples, or other materials strengthening application
    - Up to 256 MB file size per attachment

    Application Submission

  • Attestation: Must acknowledge that all information is complete, accurate, and honestly presented; that essay and documents are student's own work; and authorization for LTAA Scholarship Committee to review all application materials

  • Student signature: Type full name to sign
