THE FOUNDATION IS A TEXAS NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION THAT IS RECOGNIZED AS TAX EXEMPT UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE. THE MISSION OF THE FOUNDATION IS: (1) TO FOSTER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH WITH RESPECT TO ORGAN AND TISSUE DONATION, PROCUREMENT, AND TRANSPLANTATION; (2) TO FOSTER PUBLIC SERVICE PROGRAMS AND THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC ON THE IMPORTANCE AND BENEFITS OF ORGAN AND TISSUE DONATION; (3) TO SUPPORT THE NEEDS OF THE DONOR FAMILIES & TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS THROUGH THE DONATION, PROCUREMENT, AND TRANSPLANTATION PROCESS; AND (4) TO SUPPORT AND PROMOTE THE DONATION AND PROCUREMENT OF ORGANS AND TISSUES FOR TRANSPLANTATION, THERAPY, RESEARCH AND EDUCATION.
