Mission & Focus Areas
The overall mission of the Indiana Soybean Alliance is to proactively work with partners to improve the opportunities for Indiana soybean farmers. In 2023, the ISA Board of Directors modified the strategic plan to guide activities for the next three fiscal years, incorporating input from industry leaders, board members, and staff experiences.
The organization operates under four strategic focus areas:
Market Development: Works with partners to accelerate demand for Indiana soybeans in all forms, including increasing livestock and meat exports from Indiana, expanding exports for U.S. soybeans and soybean products, expanding demand for high oleic soybeans and high oleic soybean oil, and increasing demand for biodiesel and renewable diesel in Indiana.
Value Creation: Aims to increase the value of Indiana soybeans by bringing new food and industrial uses to market through partnerships and research, including increasing soybean-based industrial projects and foods with soybean ingredients in the market.
Sustainability: Grounded in environmental, economic, and community outreach programming, with objectives to increase farmer adoption of improved nutrient and soil health systems and strengthen consumer trust in farmers through community partnerships.
Producer Engagement: Guides ISA's investment of producer checkoff dollars.
Grantmaking
ISA distributes funds through the Indiana soybean checkoff program. Each soybean farmer contributes 0.5% of the net market price for each bushel of soybeans sold. Half of the collected funds are administered by the United Soybean Board, while the other half is distributed to and managed by the ISA Board of Directors.
