The organization operates through three primary program clusters:
Integrated Services coordinates the Association's application and testing service programs for member institutions, including data collection and analysis supporting policy research in medical education. Service programs include the American Medical College Application Services, the Medical College Admission Test, the Electronic Residency Application Service, and the Visiting Student Application Service.
Policy, Strategy, and Outreach assists members in matters related to visiting student application services, governmental relations, and communications. The governmental relations unit provides support to member institutions on policy matters.
Member Learning and Engagement maintains the Association's membership and constituent database, plans and provides logistical support for meetings and conferences, operates the Association's reference center and archives, and manages publications ordering and fulfillment.
