About Us The Community Foundation of NCW is a tax-exempt philanthropic organization that helps individuals, families, businesses, and agencies support charitable causes throughout Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties. Zur Hausen Scholarship Edith and Elmar zur Hausen emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1954 and instantly fell in love with the Wenatchee Valley. Edith got a job as an accountant at a local firm and Elmar started work as an engineer at Rock Island Dam, both found a passion in becoming orchardist at their cherry and apple orchards in East Wenatchee. Edith and Elmar spent 66 wonderful years in the Wenatchee Valley enjoying the outdoors, their church community, and friends. The zur Hausen Scholarship started in 2020 to support students who are pursuing a degree in Engineering or Agriculture.Eligibility

Eligibility: Be a graduating senior or previous graduate of a Chelan or Douglas County High School Be pursing engineering (of any kind) or agriculture at an accredited school in the USA Note: Scholarship will be awarded to the selected student, but the funds will not be issued until the student has been accepted into engineering or agriculture program major and has earned enough credits to qualify as a Junior.
