ZTA Foundation Scholarships

Overview: The ZTA Scholarship Program is at the heart of the ZTA Foundation's mission, providing financial support for undergraduate and graduate members of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity pursuing higher education.

Award Details:

  • More than $1.5 million in scholarships distributed for 2025-2026 academic year

  • Approximately 500 undergraduate and graduate members received scholarships
  • Geographic Scope: United States (members of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity chapters)

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity in good standing

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Must be a current sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student with plans to continue full-time education for the entirety of the 2026-2027 academic year (fall and spring semesters)

  • Full-time status determined by individual university/college

  • Current undergraduates must be junior or higher during the academic year for which applying
  • Review Criteria: The Foundation Scholarship Committee reviews applications and ranks applicants based on:

  • Leadership in Zeta Tau Alpha

  • Academic achievement (minimum GPA 3.0)

  • Active participation in chapter, campus and community activities

  • Financial need

  • How to Apply

    How to Apply for a ZTA Foundation Scholarship

    Application Timeline:

  • Applications open: December each year

  • Deadline: February 27 (11:59 p.m. PT)

  • Notifications sent: Mid-July (late July)
  • Five-Step Application Process:

    1. Confirm Eligibility
    - Be a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity in good standing
    - Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
    - Be a current sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student with plans to continue full-time education for fall and spring semesters of 2026-2027 academic year

    2. Obtain Transcript
    - Locate your most recent college transcript
    - UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS accepted (.pdf and .jpeg format only)
    - Transcripts must include: name, school, GPA, and total number of credit hours

    3. Secure One Recommendation
    - Request one recommendation from:
    - ZTA National Officer
    - ZTA Alumnae Officer/Advisor
    - Professor
    - Employer
    - Submit recommendation request through SmarterSelect form only
    - Written or emailed recommendations will NOT be accepted
    - Only one recommendation will be accepted; multiple recommendations will not be scored
    - Applicant is responsible for following up with recommender

    4. Complete Online Application
    - Access the online application through SmarterSelect
    - Complete all required sections

    5. Finalize Application
    - Double-check all materials are submitted by February 27 deadline:
    - Transcript
    - Completed application
    - Recommendation (submitted through SmarterSelect)

    Important Notes:

  • All materials must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. PT on February 27

  • Late recommendations will NOT be accepted

  • All applicants will be notified by mid-July whether or not they received a scholarship

  • Notifications sent to email address in Sisters Only account

  • Do NOT email materials directly to IO office

  • All submissions must be through SmarterSelect online system
