Summary

The Youth For Youth Grant, previously known as Fondersmith and Summertime for Kids, is an annual initiative by the Middletown Community Foundation designed to support youth-serving programs and projects. Overview

Youth Advisory Council The Youth Advisory Council of Middletown Community Foundation awards funds for programs serving youth in the greater Middletown area. Students from high schools in Greater Middletown are encouraged to apply for membership on the council. Qualifying high schools are Bishop Fenwick, Edgewood, Franklin, Madison, Middletown, Middletown Christian, and Monroe. Students attending Butler Tech or Warren County Technical are also eligible. Council members attend monthly meetings from September through May. Most meetings are site visits to organizations with youth programs, such as YMCA and Salvation Army, or that serve children with special needs, such as Abilities First. The Council meets during school hours on different days of the week and at different times to accommodate different class schedules.No more than three excused absences are allowed during a school year. Students provide their own transportation. Students often travel together from their school to meetings. Youth For Youth Grant Youth For Youth (previously named Fondersmith and Summertime for Kids) grant. The Youth For Youth grant program is a special grant cycle offered each year for youth-serving programs and projects in our service area. Funding recommendations are made by local high school students who are members of MCF's Youth Philanthropy Council.

Eligibility

IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations may apply as well as those not-for-profit entities which are not required by law to obtain 501(c)(3) status: governmental agencies, churches and schools. Generally, organizations must be located in Middletown, Franklin, Monroe, Trenton, Lemon Township or Madison Township, although requests from charities outside of this service area may be considered for programs which serve area residents.

Ineligibility

Middletown Community Foundation does not fund individuals, for-profit companies, operating budgets, national organizations, religious programs, political groups, endowments, medical or research organizations, non-U.S. charities or sponsorships at fund-raising events. Some of these groups may receive grants from donor advised funds at the recommendation of individual donors who advise those separate funds, but no grants are ever distributed to individuals (other than scholarships) or for-profit companies. Please do not apply for both Summertime for Kids and Fondersmith Grants with the same program.
