Yay!DAY P.E.E.R.S. Scholarship Program

Overview: The Yay!DAY P.E.E.R.S. Scholarship Program awards educational funding to Charlotte Mecklenburg students annually. The foundation awarded $16,000 in scholarships in its first year and $35,000 in its second year.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be a Charlotte Mecklenburg School student
  • Actively engaging in social outreach to promote the power of positivity
  • Educating and empowering peers to lead positive lifestyles through participation in school programs, mentoring, and/or service projects
  • Demonstrating personal "Yay!" — a sport, hobby, instrument, talent, artwork, meditation practice, or other activity that brings happiness

    Application Requirements

    Applicants must demonstrate positivity through one or more of the following:
  • Write an essay
  • Create a video
  • Submit something unique that illustrates something positive in their life

    Selection Criteria

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Volunteer hours
  • Demonstrated positive impact on community
  • Promotion and encouragement of positivity

Application Options:
Two merit-based applications are available:

  • 2025-2026 P.E.E.R.S. CMS Financial Need-Based Application

  • 2025-2026 P.E.E.R.S. CMS Merit-Based Application

  • 2025-2026 P.E.E.R.S. Hough High School Merit-Based Application
  • Required Materials:
    1. Essay OR video OR unique submission demonstrating something positive that brings happiness
    2. Demonstration of social outreach and peer engagement
    3. Evidence of participation in school programs, mentoring, and/or service projects
    4. Documentation of volunteer hours
    5. Proof of minimum 3.0 GPA

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Active engagement in social outreach

  • Demonstration of personal "Yay!" (sport, hobby, instrument, talent, artwork, meditation, etc.)
  • Note: Applicants are encouraged to exceed minimum requirements and promote positivity in all application efforts.
