Vancouver Parks & Recreation: Everybody Plays

Recreation scholarships ensuring youth and disabled adults have access to recreational programs, swim lessons, sports participation, day camps, and music/dance/art classes.

Geographic Scope: Vancouver and Clark County, Washington

Focus Areas:

• Swim lesson access for youth and disabled adults
• Youth sports leagues and classes
• Day camps providing emotional health support
• Music, dance, and art programs
• Recreation passes for families

Target Population:

• Low to moderate income families unable to afford recreational programs
• Youth interested in swimming, sports, arts, and music
• Disabled youth and adults

Program Impact (2018 data):

• 284 children learned to swim
• 196 disabled youth and adults participated in recreational programs and camps
• 131 kids participated in sports leagues and classes
• 113 youth and teens participated in music, dance, and art
• 48 families received 3-month summer recreation passes
