Trinity Family Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000 (one-time, payable to college/university in August 2026)

Geographic Scope: United States

Mission Alignment: Honors the legacy of LBIS/TLC by supporting students connected to the Trinity Education Foundation family.

Program Description

The Trinity Family Scholarship supports students who are children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of LBIS/TLC (Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle/Trinity Lutheran College) alumni or former faculty/staff members. Additionally, children of past TEF scholars are eligible. Trinity Family Scholars reflect the community's values of curiosity, integrity, service, and holistic learning. Ideal candidates are motivated, engaged both in and beyond the classroom, value family and community, and seek to honor their LBIS/TLC/TEF family legacy by using their education to pursue a meaningful vocation and contribute to the greater good.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren of:
  • - Trinity Lutheran College alum or former faculty/staff member, OR - Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle alum or former faculty/staff member, OR - Former Trinity Education Foundation scholars
  • Attending a regionally-accredited institution or vocational training program in the United States
  • Institution must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or subject to verification and approval by Trinity

  • Vocational discernment rooted in vocation (Frederick Buechner's "deep gladness" meets world's deep hunger)

    What's Included

  • One-time scholarship of $1,000
  • Ongoing individualized support from a Trinity Coach
  • Participation in ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • Eligibility to apply for Trinity Vocational Formation Fellowship in following year
  • May be eligible for renewal in future

  • Curiosity, integrity, service orientation, and commitment to holistic learning
  • Engagement beyond the classroom (leadership, service, creative interests, work, community involvement)
  • Understanding education as lifelong journey building critical thinking, empathy, purpose, and vocation

  • Responsibility and thoughtful ambition
  • Authenticity and forward-looking perspective

Steps

1. Complete the application by the due date 2. Invite the person with LBIS/TLC/TEF connection to complete a recommendation 3. Invite two people to complete recommendations: - One academic recommendation - One leadership & service recommendation 4. All recommendations must be completed before applicant can finalize application 5. Submit by deadline
