TRIALS Program

Program Type: Full-scholarship pre-law program

Partner Institutions: Harvard Law School and NYU School of Law

Overview: Launched in 2009, TRIALS is widely regarded as the nation's most prestigious, full-scholarship pre-law program designed to prepare students of underrepresented perspectives for admission to leading law schools.

Selection Criteria: Students are selected based on:

  • Compelling personal narratives

  • Demonstrated ability to overcome adversity with good cheer

  • Commitment to public service

  • Academic achievements
  • Program Structure:

  • Annual Spots: 20 students selected annually

  • Geographic Scope: Students from all 50 states and Commonwealth of Puerto Rico eligible

  • Duration: Year-long program
    • Summer Residency Component

    • Length: Five-week intensive summer residency
    • Location: Harvard Law School or NYU Law (alternating annually)
    • Curriculum: Logical reasoning, argumentation, critical reading, and essay writing instruction with Advantage Testing instructors
    • Guest Lectures: Faculty from Harvard and NYU introduce topics of broad interest in the legal profession
