NOTE: If you are a first time applicant, you must submit a letter of intent. Our LOI acceptance runs from November 1st - February 1st. You will receive a response by March 1st, and if invited to apply, grant applications are due by March 31st. Nicholas B. Ottaway Foundation The Nicholas B. Ottaway Foundation (NBO Foundation) is committed to improving communities and impacting lives through unique philanthropic committees, The Community Impact Fund, The Education Committee and the Journalism Committee. The NBO Foundation will make grants to qualified, registered 501(c) 3 organizations. Community Impact Fund The Community Impact Fund program support areas are listed below. Programs that have a direct impact on a specific number of beneficiaries within the community. The focus of your programs should be under served or disadvantaged populations in the areas of: Disaster ReliefSexual Health: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender programs and Sexual Abuse PreventionVisual Impairment ServicesThe average Community The average Community Impact Fund grant runs from $3,000-$20,000. The Community Impact Fund typically makes a small grant to first time applicants for a specific project. Grant Timetable The Nicholas B Ottaway Foundation accepts online grant applications between November 1st and March 31st. The NBO Fund requests letters of inquiry to initiate the grant application process, and does not wish to review full proposals from first time applicants without first receiving a letter of inquiry. First time applicants are encouraged to submit letters of inquiry using our online form. Letter of inquiry applicants are typically contacted within two months of receipt. The Executive Director will contact applicants if a full application is requested. Any grant application received after March 31st will not be considered for the current year.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. United States grantees must be a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. In addition, grant recipients must certify that they are not a supporting organization within the meaning of Code Section 509(a)(3). Most grants are funded for a one year period only and applicants are encouraged to apply again the following year based upon the success of their programs and after they submit an end of year report.

Ineligibility

The NBO Foundation does not fund:Private Foundations Code Section 509(a)(2) State Colleges or Universities Code Section 511(a)(2)(b) Annual Appeals or Capital Campaigns Construction or New Facility expenses Fundraising or Event Sponsorships Individual scholarships Political Activities and lobbying Churches or other religious organizations General operating support requests unless the NBO Foundation already has an established relationship with the organization, and the organization has demonstrated success with previous grants.
