TRANScend Community Impact Fund

Geographic Scope: National, with priority given to southern regions of the United States that have been disproportionately impacted by HIV

Focus Areas:

  • Address the disproportionate impact of HIV within Transgender communities

  • Support grassroots organizations led by or primarily serving Trans communities

  • Support Transgender men and women, including Gender Non-Conforming (GNC) and Gender Non-Binary (GNB) individuals

  • Background:
    According to the CDC, approximately 14% of Transgender women are living with HIV, with disproportionately high rates among Transgender women of color (44% of Black/African American, 26% of Hispanic/Latina, and 7% of white Transgender women). About half of diagnoses among Transgender women in the past decade were in the U.S. South.

    Grantmaking Approach:
    Utilizes a participatory grantmaking framework that shifts decision-making power to the community being served. Includes an advisory team of transgender leaders throughout the United States and a grant review committee composed entirely of members of transgender communities.
